BACKGROUND
From the show Kuckkuck, exhibited at Sixtyeight Art Institute, tension is cast, 1:1, into the forms of utilitarian objects: a hammer, a crowbar, a brick wall. Among these, we find a classically modelled torso, the ideal of woman and beauty, markedly smaller in scale and set against culturally typical associations of masculinity.
The destruction process starts quietly and steadily, with only minor scratches and damages, the physical artworks remaining intact and untouched. Looking at the finished objects and their metamorphosis, we are for a few moments left in doubt about exactly where in the process of creation and exhibition we find ourselves.
